Disston & Sons D-8 Lightweight crosscut hand saw, manufactured in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Based on the Disston markings, medallion, blade configuration and dimensions, this appears to be an early 20th-century example, likely dating from approximately the 1896–1920s period. The steel blade measures approximately 26.5 inches long and approximately 6¼ inches wide at the butt, which corresponds closely with published Disston specifications for the 26-inch D-8 Lightweight. The saw has approximately 9 teeth/points per inch (9 PPI). The original factory blade etching is still faintly visible and includes portions of the H. Disston & Sons / Keystone Saw Works / Philadelphia markings. The original Disston medallion is also present. IMPORTANT: Two of the original handle saw nuts/screws are missing, leaving two open mounting holes in the lower portion of the handle, as clearly shown in the photographs. The teeth appear generally intact, but the saw has not been tested for sharpness or cutting performance. It is being sold as an antique collectible/tool in as-found condition.
