These Burnished Black pieces are getting harder and harder to find, especially in such great shape.   Vintage Mexican Pottery Mug BLACK BARRO NEGRO Oaxaca HAND CARVED Burnished FIGURAL Size 5" tall, 3.5" across opening, 3 7/8" base diameter Holds 16 ounces liquid Handmade Hand Glazed Hand Carved Details BURNISHED BLACK/Dark Brown with carved details Great shapes and details going around mug.  Features a large handle which is shaped like a fish where it joins the mug, a person holding a fish, a person with a basket on their head, a gigantic rooster, and a person blowing a horn. Absolutely gorgeous. Excellent condition, no chips nicks scratches or cracks, no damage, in fantastic shape. No crazing inside. Has one slightly roughened SMALL glaze bubble down near handle base, super minor [see last pic]. Glazed inside so this is watertight for drinks Natural sandy textured clay background with vertical carving marks. Figures are all highly polished and burnished with black shiny glaze. Inside of mug is a cream color with some interesting deep olive green glaze splotches up near rim.   Heavy weight.     A wonderful Folk Art mug, would look charming out on display or in use. Also nice to displays pencils, pens etc on a desk.  These Burnished Black pieces are getting harder and harder to find, especially in such great shape.
