Each of the 5 urns contains 5 flowers that have 5 hand decorated white enameled dots on the small flowers. The background from the rim to the verge is cream. Check our eBay store for more items in this pattern. CONDITION: The condition of this set of decorative plates is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There is no rubbing to the gold or colors. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, utensil marks or hairlines. Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is. DIMENSIONS: The elegant plates have a diameter of 9 3/4" and a height of 7/8". HISTORY/MARKS: The first porcelain factory in the town of Marktredwitz, Germany opened in 1872 and was known as Porzellanfabrik Jaeger, Thomas & Co. Fritz Thomas left the company in 1898 to open with his financial partner, Ens, his own factory in 1903 in the same town. The partnership prospered from 1903-1908, but Ens quit the partnership at the end of 1907 at which point Rosenthal A.G. in Selb became a major shareholder and ran the business as an independent subsidiary of Rosenthal. They continued to use the Thomas mark which is described as a shield with urns (or ears) on each side from 1908-1939 and during these years the company greatly grew and prospered. The Thomas & Co. Bavaria marks on these pieces are identified as mark #1531 used 1908-1938 by Robert E. Rontgen Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present.
