Beautiful vintage The Art of Chokin Japanese porcelain vase featuring a finely detailed songbird perched among flowering branches. The central decorative medallion combines etched metalwork with gold, silver-tone, copper-tone, pink, and dark accents. A bright 24K gold-colored surround and gold edging complement the glossy ivory porcelain body. The vase retains both of its original labels. The large reverse label identifies it as “The Art of Chokin,” “24K Gold Edged,” and “Made in Japan.” The label explains that the images were created by etching copper and gilding the design with silver and gold. A separate original “24KT Gold” label also remains on the front. Art of Chokin pieces were produced in Japan in a wide variety of decorative forms and are especially recognizable for their etched metallic scenes and 24K gold-edged porcelain.
