Has very thick and stable cardboard backing, the brown paper was just decorative.   Vintage GIRL WITH DOG Completed Needlepoint Embroidery Art MAGNIFICENT/FRAMED  22.5" x 16.75" frame Actual embroidery piece displaying in front is 19.5" x 13.5" An amazing piece- all hand embroidered with tiny details [very small and fine needle work, gorgeous]. Wool thread in a lovely array of jewel toned colors which are quite unusual- lilac purple, plum, moss green, pale blue, mustard yellow, black, and cream This piece is circa 1950s or early 1960s This piece is after a copy of the Joshua Reynolds painting 'Miss Bowles & Her Dog' from the 1700s.  Custom framed to fit this piece with a gorgeous dark matte wood [black] frame with gold gilt borders and molding. Excellent vintage condition, no damage to needlepoint work or frame- pristine. This piece must have been stored away from sunlight, as the wool thread colors are unfaded. An exquisite piece.
