On the base with acid etched signature 'venini murano ITALY'. The fazzoletto is one of the most famous designs of Bianconi and was introduced in the early 1950s. Fulvio Bianconi (1915 - 1996) was one of the most important revivers of Murano glass design in the 20th century. He started his career as an enamel painter for Cappelin at the age of 15 - an experience that shaped him throughout his life. In the 1930s he began a livelong collaboration with the Milanese publishing houses Mondadori, Bompiani and Garzanti as a graphic designer and illustrator. Back in Murano 1946 Fulvio Bianconi studied the art of glassmaking.
