The sterling silver settings are plated in rhodium. There are 12 dark blue  sapphires and 2 moissanite gemstones set in a floral arrangement.  The sapphires are 3 mm faceted rounds, the moissanite are 2 mm faceted rounds.  The sapphire clarity is opaque.   The sapphire were mined in Africa and have been heated.  Today, moissanite is exclusively grown in laboratories as an alternative to diamonds, created in a controlled environment with advanced technology.   The sapphire and moissanite are prong set in sterling silver settings and includes sterling silver butterfly earring backs.  The sterling silver settings are plated in rhodium.  Rhodium is a precious metal, a member of the platinum family.  Rhodium is one of the rarest elements in the earth's crust.  The rhodium provides a surface resistant to scratches and tarnish and gives a white, reflective appearance.  Rhodium plating does not last forever, one can expect the earrings to keep their plating for ten or more years.
