Hawaiian honu carved from dense hard basalt stone. This is a 1 of 1 original and 1 of a kind sculpture. On the underside, there are 2 holes that accept an acrylic rod that will allow the piece to display on an angle. Hawaiian honu carved from dense hard basalt stone. There is a USA coin quarter, in some of the pictures and a marble too for a size scale reference. A USA quarter is almost 1 inch 24 mm in size. This is a 1 of 1 original and 1 of a kind sculpture. I do have a similar additional turtle carving in a separate listing that would make a nice companion piece. This piece weighs 5 pounds 3 oz. It's approximately 10 inches by 6 inches by 2 inches. The piece was meticulously carved and sealed with an orderless food grade mineral oil brushed onto stone, which adds a nice luster to the Stone as well darkens the stone. On the underside, there are 2 holes that accept an acrylic rod that will allow the piece to display on an angle. It's like it's floating through the water. If you put the acrylic rod in the hole that's got an angle, then when you set it on the table top, it'll lean the opposite direction of the acrylic rod. The second hole can also be used for tabletop installation with the acrylic rod, but the second hole is also meant for If you want to use it to hang on the wall, you would use that hole If you wanted the turtle in a up and down angle. If you want turtle to display sideways, then you would hang this piece on a post with the second hole. But either way, the small acrylic rod will be included with the Stone. You can use it or you can display the piece flat without any rod used. I personally like the angle that you get with the acrylic rod along with the slight turn in the honus head it really adds a feeling of movement when it's displayed at an angle.
