This probably is 1940s. It is four to quarter inches around the fattest part and very good condition. None of the turns around are missing a light sanding and repaint or even strip it and stain it back to match your stairs. This piece would cost 500 or more today to have made. It is great quality. Please look at my pictures to determine condition the base part on the bottom you can cut a little shorter if you need to is 2 5/8 x 2 5/8 like I said this is a beautiful beautiful antique post.
