A year later Frank Burnham bought the mine. Another year later, in 1934, Walter Godber bought the mine. It is certainly more rare than Bisbee Turquoise. Stamp Signed "TJ" and "Sterling" on the reverse of the Bracelet 98.3 grams = 3.16 Troy ounces (all measurement are approximate) The US Quarter (.95"=24mm) and $100 US Bill are for scale    Extra Large Tommy Jackson Bracelet w/ Rare Godber-Burnham Mine Turquoise This wonderful Sterling Silver and Godber-Burnham Turquoise Bracelet was made by the famous Navajo smith Tommy Jackson. He has been selling his award winning Sterling Silver and stone pieces since 1973 and was born on 1/20/58. His work can be found in countless museums and galleries. It can also be found in all the major contemporary Native Jewelry catalogs and reference books. A few are listed below. I always enjoy seeing Tommy at Native events selling his jewelry and visiting with his friends and customers. I like to chat with him about various artists, stamps, turquoise, etc.  Tommy tells a story about his work that is quite instructive. When he started out and was at a show, Chester Nez came to his booth and examined his work. He was impressed and also a very generous man. He brought some of his own customers over to meet Tommy and advised them that they would be wise to buy some Tommy Jackson jewelry. As an early mentor, he advised Tommy to always find and use the best turquoise that he could find to help distinguish himself. He loves people and loves to make amazing jewelry. At a show here in Tucson, I chatted with Tommy about turquoise. Tommy had just arrived at the show and was a bit frustrated. He was, as they say, "A day late" and the man he had planned to meet with a batch of Bisbee turquoise for him had given up on Tommy and sold it all to another smith. Tommy is always searching for the best material... I had played "phone and text tag" with Tommy to ask him about this bracelet. When I bought it from a trusted dealer, she believed that it was made with Bisbee Mine Turquoise. I had my doubts and did a casual sight only survey of several Navajo jewelers and Turquoise traders. About half of them thought that it must be Bisbee and the others all thought that the stone was from the Godber-Burnham Mine in Nevada. After Tommy replaced his lost cell phone, he called me back and and confirmed that the magnificent stone came from the Godber-Burnham Mine. Thanks Tommy! The mine was discovered in 1932 at was called the "Last Chance Mine". A year later Frank Burnham bought the mine. Another year later, in 1934, Walter Godber bought the mine. It passed again to the Everitts who sold the "unpatented mining claim" to Bruce and Jerry Woods who still mine the claim on a part time basis. It is certainly more rare than Bisbee Turquoise. Bisbee was a major copper mine and the Turquoise that came out of the Lavender Pit was a byproduct of an immense operation. The Godber-Burnam, located about 30 miles from Austin, Nevada has always been a small and dedicated Turquoise only part-time operation. It is not seen on the market often and it is not surprising that Tommy Jackson would find such a great stone to use in his jewelry making. He has a reputation for finding and using the best Turquoise...Thanks again Tommy!  This is stamp signed with the correct mark "TJ" and "Sterling" and is guaranteed to be Sterling Silver and authentic. There are no defects like cracked or loose stones, scratches, etc. The Bracelet is in excellent condition and may have  not been worn at all or used very little. I believe you will be pleased!  W hen you take a look at the pictures, please inspect the the precision of silver work and how graceful the design is. Often, when you view a bracelet and turn it over, the backside of the bracelet is not something that you would want to spend any time looking at. Take a look at how the five thick Sterling Wires seem to "flow" from one terminal all the way to the other. I trade a lot of bracelets and am pleased to report to you that this is one of the most comfortable bracelets that I have ever worn. The Turquoise is of Gem Quality and captivating! I am drawn to the magnificent Godber-Burnham Turquoise (Extra Large 50-60 Carat Stone)as well as the graceful and flowing shape that Tommy created in the wonderful bracelet!   Your friends  may compliment you and your taste in Navajo Jewelry.
