The Kyokuzan means “Rising Sun Mountian” dated primarily from the late Meiji (1868-1912) through the Taisho (1912-1926) Kyokuzan was an active artist and studio signature used for high-quality hand-painted Kyokuzan Pieces were produced during the golden age of Japanese ceramic export to the west, centered around major decorative hubs like Kyoto style and later echoed in tradition like Kutani style and original satsuma style. This Beautiful Antique Japanese Satsuma Tea Cup and Saucer By Kyokuzan. Decorated with well hand painted with flowers and wisteria, embellished with gold and red pattern style satsuma on the rim and around black background with rising gold hand- painted the landscapes & mountain natural scene. Typical Marks ; Kyokuzan in Japanese Language gilt scrip on red lozenge. Mark on a pair of late 19th century satsuma both pieces. Measure is about Saucer ; 0.5” tall, 4.5” wide on the opening and 2.5” wide at the base. Measure is about Tea Cup ; 2” tall, 2” wide on the mouth and 1.5” wide at the base. There is crazing on both pieces as old age, a few tiny spots of blue color on the saucer and dark on the tea cup ( see all in the pictures ), no chips, no cracks, damage or any kind of repair.
