MADWED was a premium mid-century manufacturer celebrated for high-quality exotic reptile leather goods. This auction is for a Vintage 1950's MADWED Brown Genuine Lizard Skin Structured Top-Handle Handbag. This beautiful, authentic mid-century modern handbag, with a structured frame, crafted from genuine horizontal - grained lizard skin in a rich, glossy deep brown color. It features a classic (Kelly style), with a single rigid top handle , a secured gold-tone lift clasp closure and a lizard wrapped accents along the frame hinge. Inside has a vinyl lining, with 1 side pocket, and 1 zip pocket, that has light marks on it(see last picture). The metal frame/ side hinge, features the authentic MADWED maker's mark. MADWED was a premium mid-century manufacturer celebrated for high-quality exotic reptile leather goods. The genuine lizard skin remain intact with a natural glossy sheen. The scales show light wear consistent with true vintage age, but no deep cracks or splitting. The rigid top handle is sturdy . The gold-tone lift clasp functions smoothly and snaps securely shut, Light surface oxidation/tarnish is present on the metal frame, adding to it's vintage character. Purse measures 14" tall x 7" wide x 3" deep - body of purse measures 8" tall x 6" - strap handle. Remember colors vary from my computer to yours.
