The scrollwork is outlined with fine black lines. This band of roses is on a background of ivory color. At the verge is a fine line of gold and the center of the plate is the high white of the porcelain. The smooth rim is decorated with a bold gold band. This is very intricate; see the photos to observe the detail. CONDITION: The condition of this decorative set is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There is no rubbing to the gold. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are some very light, short utensil marks from previous use. These must be seen in bright light at just the right angle. Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is. DIMENSIONS: The beautiful, decorative plates have a diameter of 7 1/2" and a height of 5/8". HISTORY/MARKS: H.J.Co stands for Hertel, Jacob & Co. of Bavaria. It is located in Rehau which is a municipality in the district of Hof, Germany. In Robert E. Rontgen’s Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain green mark on the back of the plates is cited as mark #3033. This Hertel Jacob mark was used in the 1922-1930 time period. Previously, the company was known as Schodl, Jacob & Co. from 1906-1922. It was acquired by Melitta Works in 1968 and closed in 1969.
