HISTORY/MARKS: In the 1860’s, Bawo & Dotter was established in New York City for the purpose of importing china, especially Limoges porcelain. The green mark on this plate is the underglaze white ware mark #5 (Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition by Mary Frank Gaston) which was used 1900-1932. The designer of the decoration was most talented. The overall quality of the design is quite professional. The center medallion consists of a spray of petite pink roses and white flowers with their green leaves. The rim of this dresser tray is scalloped and embossed. CONDITION: While this decorative dresser tray is classified as used, its condition is superb. The only issue is age appropriate wear to the gold on the rim. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. See the photos. DIMENSIONS: The tray is 10 5/8" by 7 1/2" with a height of 3/8". HISTORY/MARKS: In the 1860’s, Bawo & Dotter was established in New York City for the purpose of importing china, especially Limoges porcelain. The firm established its own decorating studio in Limoges, France in the early 1870’s named The Elite Works. Bawo & Dotter began manufacturing its own china in 1896 in Limoges. The green mark on this plate is the underglaze white ware mark #5 (Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition by Mary Frank Gaston) which was used 1900-1932. In addition, an overglaze decorating red mark is from The Elite Works and was used as an early decorator's mark for Bawo & Dotter.
