The diamond is approximately 2.0mm in diameter. (This is only an approximation, since I do not have jeweler’s tools). The shoulders are decorated with elegant motifs characteristic of the late 1800s. This was most likely a promise or courtship token, perhaps given during an engagement or on a significant anniversary. Formal wedding bands frequently included a full wedding date. Condition is excellent with a beautiful gold patina and expected surface wear to the gold on a piece over 125 years old. The hand-engraving remains incredibly sharp and legible.
