Made using the traditional Japanese craft of KABAZAIKU. The containers are well known for their air-tight properties, which keep tea leaves fresh. This tea caddy container was made at Fujiki Denshiro Shoten, Japan.   Vintage Fujiki KABAZAIKU Japan CHERRY BARK & WOOD Tea Caddy W Lid & Hidden Stopper Size 4 7/8" high, diameter is 3 1/8". Interior has a 2.5" diameter when the lid is removed. 3 pieces total- container base, lid [which fits perfectly on to base], and interior 'hidden' wooden lid which lifts fully off and which has a cherry bark knob handle. This smaller lid fits perfectly and securely within the interior rim.  Completely airtight- it has 2 different lids, outer and inner, which fit with a very close fit The natural striations/patterning on the cherry bark on this piece is outstanding! Handmade from carved cherry wood which has gorgeous natural grain patterning. The outer surface of the container is a genuine cherry bark covering. Cherry bark has been smoothed and polished to bring out its natural deep coloration and very beautiful luster. It looks MAGNIFICENT when the light catches it, richly colored and with a slight gloss. The cherry wood is also polished to be super smooth  Made using the traditional Japanese craft of KABAZAIKU. This is a traditional tea caddy, something that the Japanese are very passionate about and create with great care and reverence. There are Master Craftsmen who devote their lives to making these tea caddies. The containers are well known for their air-tight properties, which keep tea leaves fresh. This is helped by cherry wood, which absorbs some of the moisture out of the air inside of the container. This tea caddy container was made at Fujiki Denshiro Shoten, Japan.    Wonderful shape and proportions. Simple and graceful.  This piece is VERY hard to photograph and looks so much more stunning 'in person'- I have photographed it in indoor AND outdoor lighting to try to best show its colorations.  Excellent condition- pristine/flawless and without damage of any kind to all pieces. No scrapes, scuffs, scratches, no dullness to bark, no damage to wood. See all pics and use zoom This one is unusual in that it's lined with heavy cherry wood and has a recessed cherry wood lid cover underneath and separate from the domed top.  Would look marvelous on display, for a secret trinket box, or is of course perfect as a tea caddy.
