The color palette is simple: purple, orange, blue, brown and black w/gold. The design looks so classic having one large cabbage rose and one long stemmed bud. The outside of the bowl is white. The rim is trimmed in gold . CONDITION: While this decorative set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks or hairlines. There are a few very short, minor utensil marks and no wear on the gold. All of the bowls have very small white spots which are probably stacking wear. These do not distract from the beauty of the bowls. DIMENSIONS: The bowls have a diameter of 5 1/4" with a height of 1 1/8". HISTORY/MARKS: Morimura Bros. formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake. Noritake Company has a rich history of producing porcelain china all the way from January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan with its huge kaolin clay sources. The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911. The backstamp on this set is the green mark #27.0 as cited in David Spain's Art Deco Noritake & More.
