The brooch is designed with a large round central stone surrounded by oval, round and teardrop-shaped stones in graduated sizes. Numerous smaller stones form the outer border, creating a dramatic multidimensional cluster or starburst appearance. The stones range from deep wine red to brighter red depending on the lighting. The open-backed settings allow light to pass through the larger stones and enhance their color.
