Many of these pieces of cotton were probably from old clothing, tablecloths, or even flour sacks.   Vintage DRESDEN PLATE Hand Sewn FOLK ART QUILT Cotton Muslin PINK & GREEN Size is 81" x 69" with a very wide 4.5" outer border in a soft green color of scalloped teardrop shapes. The 4 corners have an even larger 'teardop' for a very finished look- absolutely gorgeous. Sometimes this teardrop border style is known as an 'ice cream cone' border edge  *Please check my Store under Vintage Clothing & Accessories for THREE OTHER handmade vintage quilts   Background color is a soft cream/ivory colored cotton muslin, with 20 evenly spaced LARGE 'Dresden Plates'. There are 18 segments within each circle. Segments are all made of varying pieces of soft pink, soft peach, and soft green cotton with differing floral patterns [some are a solid color]. A beautiful variety and nicely balanced and arranged. Many of these pieces of cotton were probably from old clothing, tablecloths, or even flour sacks. This quilt is especially gorgeous as it's all fairly harmonious and subdued, not jarring or wildly different with color and pattern. A gentle, cozy palette.    Each plate is round with a round hole in the center showing the cream background. 'Plates' are each approx. 11" diameter although they vary by a few centimeters as they're hand sewn       Cotton batting in center gives a good padding in between the 2 layers plus added warmth. The creator of this quilt hand sewed thousands upon thousands of small stitches all over the quilt so that the batting in center will never shift or bunch up  An heirloom FOLK ART quilt which would look magnificent on any size bed- on a bigger bed, it looks great laid over the end of the bed. Also nice hung on a wall. Many possibilities. Hugely collectible. This particular style, the Dresden Plate, was generally made in 1920s- 1940s.      Very good vintage condition, No rips/tears/fraying, has a few VERY small repairs from long past where someone has meticulously used matching thread to sew 3 VERY SMALL holes shut- they are all close to each other- see last pic VERY MINOR hard to see. 2 or 3 small light brown dots from age [super minor] which may or may not come out with spot treatment, up to buyer- very small and minor. No discoloration to quilt, no fading. See all pics and use zoom. Last few photos are zooms of minor damage as mentioned. Very clean, fresh smelling, no odor or mustiness.  Any minor dark spots may very well be able to be dry cleaned, up to buyer and I cannot guarantee they would come out. I have washed this quilt on a super delicate wash setting and air dried it, came out wonderfully and is fresh and clean  This quilt was purchased in Upstate NY at a barn sale and had been carefully stored for many generations.  A delightful piece of Folk Art and is incredibly charming.   Ships fully insured w tracking provided As always, my items are packed with EXTRA bubble wrap and extreme care to insure a safe arrival.
