(Zeh, Scherzer & Company) with HAND PAINTED Realistic WILD ROSES circa 1880-1918 on smooth Rimmed mold w/GOLD Trim DESCRIPTION : This plate displays beautiful hand painted sprays of wild roses. The very talented artist, Fouret, cleverly hid the signature on the painting in the green leaf on photo #8. The color palette used is pink, yellow and green with gold trim on the rim. The center of the plate shows the high white of the porcelain. CONDITION: The condition of this decorative cabinet plate is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, or scratches. There is virtually no wear to the gold on the rim of the plate. DIMENSIONS: This plate has a diameter of 9 5/8 and a height of 1". HISTORY/MARKS: The history of Zeh, Scherzer & Company of Bavaria dates back to 1880 when it was established by 6 citizens of Rehau in northern Bavaria. By 1900, 70% of the production was exported to the USA. By 1992, production had ceased after a successful run of quality porcelain for over 100 years.
