Object:  This auction is for a Mara of Mexico fine art stoneware "Coyote & Cactus" 12-ounce mug. The incised and tactile hand painted all around design is of stylized coyotes and cacti.  Artist/Studio:   Mara Fine Art Stoneware.  Mara ( -2007) studied internationally with well-known painters and sculptors in London and Italy and had numerous expositions of her original stoneware pieces in Europe, the United States and Mexico. She used fine handcrafted engraved lines, simplification and blended shapes to give life to her designs that fluctuate between realism and abstraction. Ceramica Mara has always been an extended family operation, and production of her designs, many still unproduced, has continued since her passing. Their glazes are unique for their quality, color, and durability. Each piece is hand engraved and hand painted, then fired twice at high temperatures for durability. No two will ever be exactly alike. All Mara stoneware items are lead-free glazed inside and out and are food, microwave, and dishwasher safe.
