This petite Koshida bowl packs an incredible amount of hand-painted detail, from misty mountains to tiny pagodas and cherry blossoms. • Style / Period: Japanese Satsuma ware by Koshida; signed to base and dating to the late Meiji era, generally attributed to the late 19th–early 20th century. • Material: Satsuma earthenware (often described as porcelain) with creamy crackle-glazed interior; richly enameled and gilt with a cobalt blue exterior ground. • Color & Design: Interior landscape with river, bridges, pagodas and flowering cherry trees in soft greens, pinks and gold; exterior deep navy/cobalt with trailing pink and yellow blossoms and heavy raised gilt, lobed rim with gilt edge. • Size: Approx. 4.75" diameter x 2" H (12.1 cm x 5.1 cm). • Condition: Overall very good antique condition with light wear consistent with age. Fine overall crazing typical of Satsuma. Gilt to rim and exterior shows minor rubbing. A few tiny shallow rim nicks and glaze/skips to the lobed edge, mostly felt on close inspection; no cracks or hairlines noted. Please see all close-up photos for details.
