For sale is a gorgeous Persian Qajar tinned copper tray featuring a hand-engraved scene of an exquisite bird encompassed in a garden of flowers and measuring approximately 11 5/8 inches in diameter. The tray is hand crafted of solid copper with a tin or silver wash, which has worn over time to reveal the warm metallic tones beneath. This amazing piece features repoussé (raised) and chased ornamentation, including a dense floral motif on the rim and a beautiful floral motif in the center. These types of beautiful, ornate trays were originally produced in in Persia during the late Qajar dynasty (circa 1890–1910), reviving ancient themes. They were often used for serving and are now popular decorative wall hangings and remain highly collectible.
