Rosenthal & Co. In business from 1879 until today. Started by Philipp Rosenthal in Selb Bavaria, Germany and still there today. This tray was their Monbijou Pattern with single handle and scalloped and ruffled edges. Hand painted floral motif is beautiful. Looks like it once had much more gold trim that has been worn off. Also on the underside there is a nick or chip. It is directly opposite the side with the handle and can be seen in several pics and one close up pic of it. Strangely though there are no cracks or spider webbing coming from it at all which is good. These issues tell me that this tray was used as a tray and not just a decoration at some point in it's 125 plus or minus year life. The Monbijou Pattern was produced from 1891 to 1906. On the bottom are the Rosenthal & Co. markers mark from the proper period. The word Germany and the written mark and code of the decorator. Nice survivor from a long time ago.
