This set of 5 was original to the home's construction. They are made of solid Pine or Fir and are painted a bluish-grey color. They are round and have a slight (1/2") taper from top to bottom. Each column is hollow (see 3rd to last photo). Four of the columns have their original round capitals and square bases; one doesn't.Condition: Considering their age and the fact that they were used outside for about 100 years, they are in great shape. Expect nicks, scrapes, scratches, and nail holes; no breaks, cracks, rot, or warp. Three of the columns have tiny gaps between the slats or boards. Since wood expands and contracts due to fluctuations in temperature and humidity, these slight separations are natural and harmless. These gaps are just cosmetic blemishes and not structural threats. The square bases are in the worst condition and may need to be replaced. Since these are just square and only about 2" thick, these are easy to replace.
