Beautiful, highly collectible Native American wedding vase handcrafted by the renowned, award-winning Acoma Pueblo artist Carolyn Lewis-Concho (born 1961). Carolyn belongs to the famous "Lewis Sisters" family of master potters from New Mexico. This traditional dual-spout twisted handle vase features two stunning, distinct hand-painted focal designs, making it an incredible display piece from any angle: Side 1: An intricate polychrome Monarch butterfly motif, a traditional symbol of life and transformation Side 2: A beautifully detailed horned lizard (horny toad), a revered Pueblo symbol of perseverance, protection, and ancient desert wisdom. Both sides are surrounded by razor-sharp, traditional Acoma "fine-line" geometric patterns representing clouds and rain. The vase is topped with a twisted/braided handle. Hand-painted Lizard/Gecko silhouette on the base 5.5 inches Hand-coiled native clay, painted with natural mineral slips, traditionally fired. Wonderful pre-owned condition. The paint remains vibrant, crisp, and sharp. There are a couple of very small marks. On the twisted handle, there is a small (approximately .25 in) separation in the clay from the potter or age.
