The plugs you see at the top and bottom are functional remnants of the assembly process. This is an antique cork duck decoy that we purchased at an estate sale some time ago.  I really do not know much about it but it has a great patina and measures approximately 11"x5"x4".  Please see all of the pictures so you know exactly what you are receiving.  The decoy is "corked" on the top of its head and its underside in the same location.  Below is information I find out online about it. Maker Style: Carved in the distinct Kitty Hawk, North Carolina style . Carvers from this region, like Willie Lewark (1891–1968), often utilized specialized construction methods for their working rigs. Cork Plugs: The plugs you see at the top and bottom are functional remnants of the assembly process. In many vintage coastal North Carolina decoys, holes were bored entirely through the body to securely peg or bolt the heavy wooden head to the body. Once fastened, the holes were sealed at both ends using cork plugs or wooden bungs to keep the decoy completely watertight.
