Title Vintage Eagle Bolo Tie Turquoise Coral Silver Southwestern Western 36” Mobile Overview Striking vintage Southwestern-style bolo tie featuring a dimensional flying eagle, turquoise and coral stones, sculptural scrollwork and a substantial oval slide. Home touchstone testing produced a reaction consistent with approximately .800 silver. Possible pictorial marks on the reverse appear to resemble an owl/bird and horse-like figure; maker remains unidentified but possible signature. Description A distinctive vintage bolo tie with wonderful dimensional workmanship and classic Western/Southwestern character. The substantial oval slide measures approximately 2½” high × 2” wide and features a dramatic applied three-dimensional eagle with outstretched wings. Individual feather detailing gives the bird considerable texture and depth, especially when viewed from an angle. Two bezel-set stones provide contrasting color: set with what appears to be natural turquoise and coral cabochons; stones have not been gemologically tested.  Sweeping applied scrollwork surrounds the stones, while naturally darkened recessed areas contrast beautifully with the brighter raised metalwork. The combination of the dimensional eagle, turquoise and coral colors, aged silver-colored metal and black braided cord creates a classic vintage Southwestern look. Possible Pictorial Marks & Possible Signature The reverse shows several faint pictorial impressions. Two of the clearest appear to resemble an owl/bird figure and a horse or horse-head figure. Pictorial hallmarks are known within Southwestern jewelry traditions, including pieces produced by Native American artists. However, the maker of this bolo has not been established, and no specific artist, Navajo, Zuni or other tribal attribution is being made. Reverse appears to have a faint hand-inscribed signature or maker’s notation, possibly beginning with the initials ‘J.P.’; the remaining lettering is indistinct and has not been conclusively identified (see last 2 pictures) . The possible marks are shown in the photographs for buyer examination and interpretation. Metal Testing The metal was home-tested using a touchstone and silver testing solution. The observed brown reaction corresponds to approximately .800 silver according to the testing kit’s supplied color chart. This was a home test only. The piece has not been professionally assayed, so exact metal composition and silver fineness are not guaranteed. The bolo is therefore not being represented as sterling silver. . Condition Good vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, oxidation/patina, scratches and variations to the metal finish. The front has been lightly hand-polished, primarily to brighten the raised surfaces while retaining darker oxidation within the recessed portions of the design. This provides attractive contrast and brings out the eagle’s detailed feather work and dimensional scrollwork while preserving vintage character. The reverse retains more of its aged surface and patina. Possible pictorial impressions resembling an owl/bird and horse-like figure are visible and shown in the photographs. Both stones appear securely set upon inspection. Set with what appears to be natural turquoise and coral cabochons; stones have not been gemologically tested. The black braided cord shows vintage wear but presents well. One metal cord tip/aglet is missing, leaving that end of the cord exposed. The other metal tip remains present.
