Antique Chinese export blue-and-white porcelain plate, dating to the late 18th century, probably Qianlong period, circa 1770–1790. The dating is based on several characteristic features associated with late-18th-century Chinese export porcelain. Condition: Antique condition with two rim chips and one hairline. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form part of the condition description. The plate still displays very well, with strong blue-and-white decoration. Description: Antique Chinese export blue-and-white porcelain plate, dating to the late 18th century, probably Qianlong period, circa 1770–1790. Hand painted in underglaze cobalt blue with a detailed river landscape showing traditional Chinese pavilions, figures, boats, trees and distant pagodas. The central scene is surrounded by geometric diaper-pattern borders, a dotted band and decorative auspicious-object motifs. The dating is based on several characteristic features associated with late-18th-century Chinese export porcelain. These include the hand-painted cobalt decoration with visible variation in tone and brushwork, the elaborate combination of diaper and dotted border patterns, the style of the river and pavilion landscape, and the broad hand-finished unglazed foot rim. The slightly uneven exposed porcelain body, minor firing imperfections and soft bluish-white glaze are also consistent with hand-produced export porcelain of the Qianlong period rather than later machine-made wares. The underside is unmarked, which is common on Chinese export porcelain of this type.
