The painted decoration extends around the body and consists of repeating dark brown curved, pointed, and triangular forms. Offered for sale is a small hand-decorated pottery vessel featuring dark brown painted designs over a light tan/buff-colored ground. Several of the motifs resemble stylized hills or sweeping geometric forms topped or accompanied by small arrowhead- or tree-like triangular elements. The decoration is executed primarily in a single dark brown tone against the lighter natural pottery surface, giving the vessel a simple two-tone appearance. The designs vary around the circumference and show the irregularities expected of hand-applied decoration. The underside is undecorated and shows natural surface variation, wear, discoloration, and remnants or marks where a label or adhesive may previously have been present. A small faint mark or remnant is also visible on one side of the vessel. No clearly legible maker's signature or identifying inscription is visible in the photographs.
