Please keep in mind that a large amount of antique Staffordshire ceramic pieces were made by kids in sweatshops using primitive potting methods and often have minor irregularities such as crazing, glaze bubble pops, glazed over chips, paint or glaze skips, particles under the glaze, firing separations, etc.    Manufacturers packed the different types of pottery into saggars using racks and various supports. Consequently, stilt, pin or hook marks appear on most pieces.   Irregularities and support marks are not considered as damage.    The degree of crazing and the number and location of support marks are included in the description. If any other irregularity is atypical, it will be mentioned in the description.     Item:  Ironstone, brushstroke tea bowl (handleless cup) and saucer Pattern name:    Grapes And Leaves With Blue Band -- This pattern consists of hand painted, flow blue grape leaves and small bunches of grapes. The rim edges are trimmed with a blue band. Manufacturer:  Unknown to me but I'm certain it was made in England Date:   c. 1830 - 1860 -- In her second volume, Williams states: "There are many simple decorative patterns found on Flow Blue ware that were not achieved by the use of the transfer printing process. Numerous designs dating from the early part of the 19th. century can be found that were hand brushed with cobalt on the biscuit before transfers were invented, and after that when some potters found hand labor more economical than the cost of transfers."    Manufacturer's mark:  No Reference:   "A Painter's Dabble In Brushstroke," a publication printed by The Flow Blue International Collector's Club; Williams 2 Measurements:   Tea bowl: 2 1/2" from base to top of rim, 3 1/2" from edge of rim to edge of rim -- Saucer: 6"   Chips:    No Cracks:    No Hairlines:   No    Utensil marks:    Tea bowl: No -- Saucer: Few, fine, barely penetrating the glaze, visible only in certain light Staining:  No     Restorations:   No     Glaze wear:  No Crazing (a result of the manufacturing process): Tea bowl: The tea bowl has clean, very small patterned crazing over all. It is very faint and can hardly be seen even under magnification. -- Saucer:  The saucer has a very small amount of clean, fine crazing.       Support marks (a result of the manufacturing process):   Tea bowl:  Three stilt marks inside of bowl and three stilt marks on bottom -- Saucer:  Three stilt marks on front and three stilt marks on back.  Please refer to the photos.
