This was an estate find and was one of the tools contained in a circa 1910 woodworker’s tool chest. The cap screw design and off-center slot cuts dates this piece to around circa 1850 or earlier. This Primitive Wooden Spoke Shaver / Draw Knife is a rare and original tool possibly from the early 19th century, making it a unique piece of Americana craftsmanship. Carved from solid wood, this tool embodies the simplicity and authenticity of early American wood working techniques. This spoke shaver/draw knife would be a valuable addition to any antique collection or woodworking enthusiast's workshop. It has a wonderful early patina with signs of use. The blade is sharp and secure with no signs of looseness. There is a small hole in one end of the handle for hanging. Condition: Used in Very Nice condition - This tool and its parts are sold as-is - shows signs wear appropriate for its age and use. Has some flaws or defects, but Beautiful Patina.
