This is an early antique milk glass Easter egg with opaque white glass. Back at the turn of the century these eggs were not only decorative but useful. After Easter if hens were in a snitch and did not lay eggs, one could place these milk glass eggs under the hen to help them aid in production. This egg is in great condition with a fine example of the artistry that went into the hand painting. There is only a minimal amount of paint loss. With a purple flower and green leaf motif and it reads “a happy Easter.” This is a large egg. 4 inches tall and 5.5 inches long. It is in great condition with no chips or breaks.
