This figurine represents the male lion of the traditional guardian pair, identifiable by his right front paw resting atop a decorative embroidered ball (xiu qiu), which symbolizes authority and protection over the structure. The piece features a striking, traditional three-color lead glaze palette of imperial yellow, vibrant green, and deep aubergine brown. The underside of the base features an unglazed white porcelain biscuit with a stamped red block-letter "CHINA" mark. This specific style of export mark dates the piece to the Republic Period (circa 1920s to 1940s), following the implementation of early 20th-century import/export customs laws.
