The rounded white-glazed body is covered with exuberant hand-painted flowers and foliage in cobalt blue, green, pink, orange and yellow, with deep blue accents defining the rim, handle and pedestal foot. Colorful Greek Art Pottery — Hand Painted & Artist Signed Rich color and free-flowing brushwork give this small Greek pottery pitcher an abundance of Mediterranean character. The rounded white-glazed body is covered with exuberant hand-painted flowers and foliage in cobalt blue, green, pink, orange and yellow, with deep blue accents defining the rim, handle and pedestal foot. The painting has a wonderfully spontaneous quality. Rather than relying on rigidly repeated motifs, the flowers and leaves move freely around the body, with visible variations in the brushwork giving the piece the individuality associated with hand-painted pottery. The curved handle continues the decoration with bold cobalt and green strokes, while the raised foot gives the pitcher an elegant profile. The underside bears a distinctive hand-painted signature that appears to read “P. Hatzopoulos” (Χατζόπουλος) , a Greek surname. While the individual artist or pottery workshop has not been independently identified, the signature and character of the piece support its identification as Greek hand-painted art pottery.
