This 7 7/8" salad plate is marked "K & A, Krautheim, Selb Bavaria" on the back. Krautheim and Adelberg (K & A) were making china from 1884-1945. Several other Bavarian manufacturers also make a pattern very similar. This 7 7/8" salad plate is marked "K & A, Krautheim, Selb Bavaria" on the back. Krautheim and Adelberg (K & A) were making china from 1884-1945. They were purchased by Franconia in 1945. I saw a Franconia pattern on Replacements LTd (FR209) that resembled this one but not sure if it is an exact match. Several other Bavarian manufacturers also make a pattern very similar. The plate is a bright white with a gold-encrusted rim. The gold is embossed with a floral pattern. Condition of this is good. Very few utensil scratches--this plate must've not seen much use. The gold pattern is solid with no places where it is thin, worn, or scratched through to the white. There are some light impressions--fingernails perhaps--in the soft gold but nothing that distracts from the beauty of the piece. Some subtle areas of tarnish. One tiny grey speck that appears to be under glaze. It is just a speck but I like to list every single detail. You may be able to see it in the photos. All in all, a good vintage piece ready to shine on your table or complete your Bavarian china collection!
