This species excavates large, rectangular holes in trees to feed on carpenter ants and other insects, living in mature forests and suburbs with large trees. While once rare due to deforestation, the population has recovered and they are a captivating sight for birdwatchers, with a loud, distinctive call.  This Nutcracker is Handcrafted in Germany with great care and attention to detail.
