The sculptural design is particularly appealing, with sweeping wings, a raised crest, detailed feet and an elongated three-part tail. Vintage Crown Trifari bird brooch from the circa-1960 Fantasies line, featuring a whimsical crested bird in textured and polished gold-tone metal with a large pear-shaped white belly cabochon and matching round white eye. The sculptural design is particularly appealing, with sweeping wings, a raised crest, detailed feet and an elongated three-part tail. Contrasting brushed and polished surfaces give the small brooch considerable dimension. The reverse is clearly signed TRIFARI © and retains its pin stem and clasp. This style is commonly described by collectors and sellers as a “Jelly Belly” bird , although the opaque white cabochon differs from the clear Lucite bellies of Trifari's famous 1940s sterling Jelly Belly pieces. Period examples of this later Trifari bird design are identified with the Fantasies line and circa 1960 dating. Approximately 1.75 inches tall . This piece came from family jewelry and belonged to either my mother or grandmother. It has been in the family for decades.
