The weight/shipping cost is based on buying ONE cup and ONE plate. If you would like to buy two or three sets, please let me know and I will weigh them together in a larger box and give you a total before you purchase/pay. The plate is 8" across at the widest point, a sort of curved-out hand grip area which makes the plate easy to carry with one hand. There is a round indentation in the place in which to rest the cup. The indentation helps to secure the cup and keep it from sliding around on the plate. These are absolutely perfect for parties that involve a tea time or dessert buffet -- think afternoon tea, bridal shower, baby shower etc. Guests can easily hold the plate in one hand, leaving the other hand free to take items from the buffet. They are also easy to balance on your lap, or circulate and eat/drink while standing and socializing. A clever and elegant solution!
