Description Antique pair of Chinese hand-carved wooden guardian/warrior figures, likely dating to the late Qing to early Republic period, approximately late 19th to early 20th century. Each figure is individually carved and decorated with colorful polychrome paint. Both warriors wear elaborate traditional armor and stand upon carved cloud-form bases. One guardian carries a sword, while the other holds a large polearm/ halberd-style weapon. Both weapons are intact. Long carved ribbons or sashes extend behind the figures. The undersides show exposed wood grain, old construction, shrinkage and natural aging consistent with their apparent age. Approximate height: 9 inches each. Condition: Antique condition with considerable age-related wear to the original/old painted surfaces, including fading, rubbing, paint loss, scratches and accumulated patina. Both weapons are intact.
