The support rod connects to the electric rotating mechanism in the base to create the flying motion. The underside is dated August 1996, making this a true vintage Department 56 Christmas piece. Tested and works great. Includes the original box. The box shows considerable age and storage wear including tape, creasing, edge/corner wear and some tearing. Model / Item No. 52593.
