Beautiful vintage pair of dimensional chalkware religious wall plaques featuring Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. Each plaque measures approximately 11 inches tall and is deeply molded in relief, giving the faces an almost sculptural appearance when displayed on the wall. Both have expressive hand-painted features, including blue eyes and softly shaded skin tones. The Virgin Mary is depicted wearing a cream and soft blue-green veil accented with gold detailing, with tears beneath her eyes. She is in very good vintage condition, especially considering the fragile nature of chalkware. The Jesus plaque features a beautifully modeled face with long brown hair and beard. It shows more age-related wear. Mary is in very good vintage condition with light age-related wear. Jesus shows scattered paint loss/flaking and small areas of surface chipping, primarily around the outer rim and hair. The dimensional facial features remain very well preserved.
