The unfortunate part is that the vase was, at one point, made into a lamp so there is a hole in the bottom and a hole in the lid. The vase could use a good cleaning. The colors are amazing with a black background and a lot of pink and greens and blues and creams and even yellows. Vintage and might actually be an Antique Japanese Bird & Floral Vase with Lid - 12" Tall x 7" Wide - Has a Made In Japan paper label which would indicate that this was made post 1922 This is an absolutely gorgeous vase and lid. The colors are amazing with a black background and a lot of pink and greens and blues and creams and even yellows. You can clearly feel that the decorations are raised versus the field. The vase is about 4 lb and 12 oz. Very substantial size as well. I'm not qualified to say if it is porcelain or pottery or what. The unfortunate part is that the vase was, at one point, made into a lamp so there is a hole in the bottom and a hole in the lid. It also suffered some breakage with repairs along the neck which is not very noticeable when the lid is on(please see the photos). It also appears to have had some rubbing or chipping mainly to the pink field of the large pink flower. There is also some rubbing or scraping where the lamp assembly met the top of the lid. The vase could use a good cleaning. All in all it is very presentable and absolutely beautiful! You can bid or buy with confidence as my feedback is as good as it gets and has been for nearly 25 years! I would appreciate it if you would contact me first regarding any damage during shipping or if you feel the item does not match my description.
