I have a 'thing' about vintage hammered aluminum metalware, which is why I snapped up this cool retro basket at an estate sale recently. From the love knot handle to the stamped fruit design center, it's a great piece of vintage decor in very good condition. Aluminum kitchenware originated in the 1920's and gained popularity because of its lightweight and durable properties. Today, vintage hammered aluminum is finding it's way back into homes and gaining the attention of collectors. The basket measures 8 1/2" around, 6 1/2" tall with the handle and the bowl is about 1 1/2" deep. The bottom is marked Hand Forged along with the number 6, which is probably the pattern number.
