There appears to be a thin papery film applied to each ball that is the cause of the flashy coloring. I suspect these splits are NOT from age, but rather a part of the application process used to place a flat sheet on each round ball. Pearly White and Satiny Baubles for Your Ears! Each earring measures just under 1 inch long. The beads are about 3/8 of an inch in diameter. The earrings are each made of 3 balls that I assume to be plastic. They are shiny and seem to pick up the colors in the environment around them. There appears to be a thin papery film applied to each ball that is the cause of the flashy coloring. This film is split into some of the sides of the balls but is only visible with a magnifying glass and it is very secure. I suspect these splits are NOT from age, but rather a part of the application process used to place a flat sheet on each round ball. These 3 balls are mounted on a plastic piece which is in turn mounted on the silver-tone metal of the screw back. There is some lettering on the end of the screw on each earring but I cannot decipher it, even with a magnifying glass. Two of the letters might be BL. I’ve photographed these earrings in different lights in order to best show these earrings in varied light. I don’t know the age of these earrings but based on other jewelry they were found with, I’m expecting early mid-century, as early as 1930, and as late as 1950. I can imagine these pretty bubbles as a finishing touch to your beach wedding wear. They look like a treasure that just washed up at your feet.
