Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (since 1967). Honored Artist of the RSFSR. Founder and head editor of the famous workshop “Agitplakat”. Was born in Romny in 1906. Studied at the Kharkov Institute of Art and Industry (1921−1925) under S.M. Prokhorov and M.A.Sharonov. Participant of exhibitions since 1926. He was engaged in book and magazine graphics for the Military Publishing House, painted for the Krokodil magazine (1932−1933), the newspapers Komsomolskaya Pravda (from 1934), Pravda (1956), in easel graphics he performed the series Vasya Terkin (1940), "Postwar Europe" (1947), designed books by M. Gorky and M. Twain. In the poster genre, he achieved great success, an outstanding, subtle draftsman, easily and wittily revealed the characters of the characters in his works. Known for his posters on foreign policy, in them with humor, ridiculed the vices of capitalist society.
