These marks are impressed at the base of each side of the basket handle. This vintage Fenton ruffled hobnail milk glass handled basket bowl is a stunning piece to add to any collection. The white color and antique style add a touch of elegance to any room. It was made in Williamstown, WV, by D. Austin Dallison who was a Fenton artist from 1933 to 1982.  The Fenton brand is well-known for quality glass products. In the 1950s, company President Frank M. Fenton and his brother Bill Fenton, Vice-President, decided that each Fenton basket handler should have a distinctive mark so collectors could identify the artisan who created their basket.  These marks are impressed at the base of each side of the basket handle.  These baskets are made individually, and the handles are very difficult to create. The artist has only 30 seconds to work with the molten glass – it must be shaped, affixed to the basket, and the mark embedded at each end before the glass hardens. Sometime in the 1970’s, Mr. Dallison created this particular basket and embedded his mark which is shown in the 6th image. The basket is pre-owned and in ecellent condition with no chips or cracks.  Approximately 10” by 10”.
