Sitter is seated on a mahogany chair; there is a suggestion of a table covered with red velvet drapery and elaborate embroidery (as well as a ceremonial sword or scabbard?). Sitter has black curly hair parted in centre, brown eyes and wears an elegant frock coat with gold epaulets “soaring” at the shoulders, and clutches gloves.
