This piece features a classic organic shape and a stunning variety of natural kiln effects. Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic vintage Japanese Bizen ware sake bottle (tokkuri). This piece features a classic organic shape and a stunning variety of natural kiln effects. The rich, earthy body shows off a wonderful color gradient, ranging from warm reddish-brown flame markings to a distinctive grey-blue charred finish (sangiri) near the base, caused by falling charcoal ash inside the wood-fired kiln.The flat base features a very crisp, clear stamped artist mark (kamajirushi) displaying the Japanese Kanji character 「正」 (Masa / Tada), used by traditional generational Bizen pottery lineages.This piece was recovered during an estate cleanout. It does not come with its original wooden box (tomobako), but the bottle itself is in excellent condition.Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Please note that Bizen ware is unglazed stoneware; any surface texture variations, rough spots, or tiny pit marks are completely natural characteristics of the traditional wood-firing process.
