Photo 1: Woman with Borzoi Pair circa 1930 - 1933 A fashionable woman holds a pair of Borzois or Russian Wolfhounds on the leash, posing in a neatly manicured back yard with a concrete garden bench (typical for well-to-do families in the late 1920s). She is fashionably dressed in a capulet and coat reminiscent of the Art Nouveau era, with sturdy Oxford shoes - a good choice for dog walking, and an up-to-date fashion choice for the early 1930s. The dogs are clearly photographed with their faces to the camera. Borzois were the ultimate status symbol in the 1920s and early 1930s, lending an air of aristocratic elegance to wealthy homes in that period. This photo is in good vintage condition and measures 2 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches. Photo 2: Four Women with Pit Bull Dated August 1915 Four women pose with their Pit Bull, who wears a studded collar, in front of a rustic barn in their garden. On the back, the photo is dated in handwritten ink "Aug 1915." The dog shows the classic muscular, athletic frame prized in the early 20th century. the wide, heavily studded collar is historically significant, as these collars were designed to protect a working dog's neck from predators. The two older women on each end wear dark Victorian/Edwardian dresses with high, rigid collars, floor length skirts, and structured bodices. The two women in the center show the more relaxed style of the mid-1910s, with looser, lower necklines and lighter fabrics, with their hair styled in the popular Gibson Girl fashion. Were they posing specifically to take a photo of their cherished dog? The woman at center is doing a great job of holding the dog so that a good photo is taken, and they got a terrific result! This photo is in fairly good antique condition - sadly, it was poorly cut along the bottom and lower right side, but this doesn't detract from the actual photo - and measures 3 1/2 inches square. Photo 3: RPPC Two Working Women with Farm Dog Circa 1910s This Real Photo Postcard shows two women in work clothes posing in a rustic outdoor space with their functional terrier or herding dog mix. The woman on the left wears a long skirt and soft, open-collared blouse with apparently minimal undergarments. Gone are the stiff corsets from the 1915 photo! The woman at right wears a pinafore or jumper over an open-collared shirt and a beanie or cap. Her hand is placed firmly on the dog, who looks intently at the camera - probably because it likes the photographer, who may be a family favorite with this dog! The divided back indicates that this photo postcard was printed after 1907, but the clothing places it closer to or during WWI. The flowers on the table, probably potted or from their garden, add a touch of charm. This postcard is in good antique condition and measures 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. Photo 4: Woman on Porch with Terrier Mix 1940s This snapshot features a small terrier mix standing on a slightly cluttered porch with an older woman who wears a neatly pressed house dress and apron typical for a woman managing a household in the late 1940s - early 1950s. This dog is probably more household pet than working dog or status symbol, and shows the evolution of family lifestyle as the 20th century progressed. The candid quality of this photo differs from the others in this mini collection. It looks like she may have put her mop out to dry after washing the kitchen floor, as you can see the mop just behind the dog - who, based on his posture, probably followed her, hoping for some time outside! This photo has a crisp deckled edge, popular in the 1940s and 1950s, and some glue residue from an album on the back, but is in good vintage condition. Photo 5: Woman Posing with Dog on Blanket 1940s A stylish woman poses in a backyard  on a blanket with a terrier, sheltie, or spitz mix dog. She wears a tailored dress that features the iconic silhouette influenced by the military uniforms during the WWII era, with padded shoulders designed to make a woman's waist look smaller.The 1940s color block technique complied with fabric rationing under the government's restrictions on how much fabric could be used in a single garment. She is wearing dark pumps with a chunky heel. The dog sits comfortably next to her - yet the blanket is torn and ragged at center, implying that this dog could be rambunctious at times! This photo is in excellent vintage condition and measures 3 x 4 1/2 inches.
